Lechmere Station Viaduct

Etty was brought in as the infrastructure architect to review the design of the viaduct at the proposed Lechmere Station—part of the Green Line extension to the City of Somerville. She designed a sleeker profile for the structure to create an under-viaduct environment that welcomes rather than forming a barrier and harmonizes with the design of surrounding development. She adjusted the pier spacing to respond to the surrounding street grid and to improve pedestrian sight lines to the station entrance. The MBTA endorsed her recommendations and construction of the station and viaduct is moving ahead.
