UIL was selected by the MBTA for a series of tasks to improve the Blue Hill Avenue Commuter Rail Station. The tasks included improving the urban design for access and connection to the community; coordinating a public artist’s selection process; and preparing materials for a public presentation.
To make the station entries better connected to the neighborhood, provide more visibility, and protected against the elements, UIL developed concepts for an enlarged station entrance canopy, new raised crosswalks, bike lanes, pick-up and drop-of areas, and the relocation of existing bus stops and crosswalks.
